5 out of 5 stars I can't believe some of the reviews :(   April 26, 2007

Wow... I'm amazed at some of the reviews for this incredible book/cd. How could you rate this any less than 5 stars?

We listen to it non-stop in our house, and I'm not even close to being sick of it (6 weeks so far). The songs are amazing. Outstanding lyrics and catchy, catchy, hooks.

Great tracks from Spin Doctors, Blues Traveler, Weird-Al and Kate Winslet duet, the Bacon Brothers, Mark Lanigen (Screaming Trees) -- and that's just off the top of my head...

Our 18 month old goes bananas when he hears the very first chord of the CD. Move the furniture, because it's "Dance-Party USA" in our living room from start to finish.

4 out of 5 stars The kids love it, but I'm not as thrilled   April 17, 2007

I have to start this review by saying my kids LOVE this CD. I mean, the really love this CD. The "Thus Quacked" track makes my 2 year old break out in squeals of hysterical laughter EVERY SINGLE TIME. And, trust me when I say, we have heard this CD about a zillion times by now. BUT, my opinion is more mixed. Unlike Chickens, where almost every song was good, I think there are quite a few duds on this CD. My kids have me fast forward through about half the songs, and the Cow Planet trilogy is almost impossible for me to listen to because it is so annoying. And, despite their frequent requests for the CD, my kids only really like about 5 of the songs. Of course, they LOVE those 5 songs, but the rest they can take or leave and, mostly, leave. I'm thinking of burning a version of this with just the songs they like, which is less than half of them, so I don't have to keep forwarding past the ones they hate. I paid about $5 for this, and I wouldn't have paid more. Unlike Chickens and Rhinocerous I AM getting tired of hearing this CD.

5 out of 5 stars Love Love Love!   April 7, 2007
Get the whole series! Infants love it & adults laugh the whole time.

5 out of 5 stars Dog Train is Awesome!!!   March 13, 2007
By far, the best Boynton yet! Our entire family loves it, including the dog. Recommend getting several copies to give as gifts!

3 out of 5 stars good, but a little less than what i expected   March 9, 2007

the cd does have some catchy songs that my son really loves but a lot of them are kind of boring. the tantrum song is great and should be every toddler's anthem.

i'm one of those parents who can't stand to listen to the annoying barney-type songs over and over and won't even allow it into my house. i think kids music can be fun and enjoyable for both kids and parents. this cd is definitely not annoying but again, i get bored with it, as does my toddler. however, he likes to play the first 7 or so songs over and over. he espcially likes the tantrum song and dog train because he likes dogs...and trains...

the book is cute, too, but the song lyrics don't transfer over very well to stories. you know when you read lyrics to songs and it just sounds unnatural? the same goes for this book. my son does like me to read it to him but i feel weird and awkward and miss the creative rhymieness of boynton's other books.

oh well. so, buy it or don't. i wouldn't pay full price for it, though. find it on sale or get it on amazon where it's cheaper than at a bookstore.
