This plate mount isn't that skinny as it looks in the picture. It's made of solid plastic that can't easily bend. Then I don't worry about it's aging within a few years. It's extremely easy to install and will fit most of the car/truck. The long holes make it possible for even the slightest adjustment, good design!
 Lightweight, Sturdy Mounting Plate for Your License Plate(s) June 18, 2008
This sturdy black plastic mounting plate is ideal for protecting the finish on your vehicle. It provides an excellent "buffer" between your vehicle's paint and the license plate, and it is very easy to mount.
One piece of advice to those who might consider purchasing this mounting plate AND one of the Cruiser (or other brand) license plate frames -- either purchase longer than standard mounting screws than come with this mounting plate OR buy only the frame or mounting plate. I purchased both the mounting plate and chrome frame and found that I could not mount them both without longer screws than those provided by the dealers from whom I had bought my vehicles.
