The device features a large, easy-to-read backlit screen that shows the trouble code and its definition. And although you still have to fix the problem that your scanner detects, this device will deactivate the "check engine" light on your dash so you'll no longer be distracted while you drive. Every Actron scan tool and code reader incorporates CAN (Controller Area Network) and the patented TrueLink Technology which guarantees the tool will link to and communicate with every OBD II compliant vehicle. This assures a fast and accurate diagnostic output -- a key ingredient to an effective repair. The CP9180 is simple and easy to use. The included OBD II cable provides both data and power connections, while the USB cable offers a quick and easy way to connect your scanner to your PC.  Actron Scanner - worth the money January 9, 2009
This unit has already saved me money. It works as advertised and well worth the money. It will pay for itself with 1 or 2 uses. I like the feature of resetting the codes but a back light would be great. That is the only downside for me.

I've had it for a little over a month and used it several times already. So it already paid for itself. It's not hard at all to use although I haven't really used all of the functions yet. I also like the protective casing. I already dropped it and there were no damages done to it. I look forward to many more uses, and I'm sure my friends are too.
 Lack of product support November 3, 2008
I purchased this scanner and installed the software on my computer and was unable to download the latest updates. I tried contacting Actron support and after 2 days of not being able to talk to a representative I gave up and returned the item.
handy tool, but not for a diesel October 28, 2008
work great, but dont try to use it on a diesel pickup, it wont even recognize it.
I bought it to diagnose my 2006 f350, and thought there was something wrong with the tool because it wouldnt even acknowlege that it was plugged in.
I have since found out that it doesnt work with diesels.
I am still glad I bought it though, I have since used it on many other vehicles.
