Electronic A/C Leak Detector - For All CFCs, HCFCs, and HFCs. Contoured design fits your hand. Flexible Santoprene holster takes the bumps and knocks of everyday use. Gooseneck probe wraps into recessed area on the back of the unit to protect it when stored. Corona discharge technology senses leaks by creating a high voltage corona in the sensing tip. When refrigerant (or other gases denser than air) interrupts this electronic field, the alarm is triggered. All corona discharge leak detectors are not the same, howeverthe quality of key components is critical in providing an effective instrument. To create the high voltage corona, the unit must pump up" from the battery output to 2000 volts. It takes a specialized transformer to consistently provide this voltage, and the Robinair 16600 results from years of testing and modifications to assure reliable operation.
