2 out of 5 stars Not very good for using 220v Outlet and with 220/110 Transformer   July 17, 2008
If you are going to use it outside of USA for a 220v (50Hz) outlet and with a 220v/110v transformer, this charger may be not quite good for you. I have purchased two and they all stop to work completely after only 2 times of use. I think that there is some kind of protection circuit that "cuts-off" connection but with no way to know how to get it back.

I also purchased another Deltran battery charger: Deltran Battery Tender 12-Volt 800 milliamp Waterproof Battery Charger and this one is very good and doesn't need transformer because its input is 100-240 and only about $10 more expensive.

I bought 3 of these several years ago intending to use them on motorcycles. I have a GoldWing that if left sitting too long would have a dead battery. One of these units solved that problem, in fact the battery is coming up on 6 years old is still working great. I ended up giving the second on to my son for one of his M/C's and I have been using the 3rd one on whatever was parked and not being driven, mostly cars. Since the recent gas crisis I have gone to driving the GoldWing(motorcycle in case you don't know) all the time and so right now the 3rd unit is on my Audi, for several months now, and it seems to be doing the job just fine. I use the Audi about once every 4-6 weeks when I have to move people or things that I can't strap to the GoldWing.

5 out of 5 stars Low cost, effective battery charging   June 7, 2008

Because of winter days and cost of fuel I telecommute, work from home more. Not driving my car daily and sub zero temps drained my 2 years new battery quickly. Overnight charging with the Deltran Tender Junior allowed me to start up and drive if needed, but never fully charged the battery. The first spring 3 day holiday with constant 24 hour charging did result in a "green light" on the charger, signaling a full charge. Indeed, the battery performed, sounded and felt brand new after a 3 day full trickle charge. I use it mostly in winter when cold zaps my battery, this keeps it performing and I know my car will start the next morning. Idiot lights do work, though they seem sometimes not to if using the carger for less than 24 hours. 12 foot power cord worked fine with my 50ft extension to charge the battery. Overall, saved me money, tow truck calls and provided "next day" peace of mind knowing the car would start in winter weather.
