| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description "Navy Service School, River Rouge" and "Freshmen of the Fleet" were produced by the Ford Motor Co. Photographic Laboratories. It is in several sound and silent segments. Rear Admiral Chester W. Nimitz spoke at the commissioning of the school on January 15, 1941. The school grew from 1200 students to 2000 students by its first anniversary. The Navy school took over the 25 year old Ford trade schools, continuing to employee Ford Co. instructors. Aircraft and Diesel engines, welding, wood working, electric motors, steam generators, etc. were just a few of the subjects taught. Instruction consisted of 8 hours per week classroom training and 32 hours per week of in-shop training. The Navy school had its own barracks, mess hall, dispensary, rest and recreation facilities, and a physical training course. A WAVE contingent provided administrative support to the school.
