Editorial Reviews:

Description
For the first time ever, the original The Invisible Man film comes to DVD in this extraordinary Legacy Collection. Included in the collection is the original classic, starring the renowned Claude Rains, and four timeless sequels, featuring such legendary actors as Vincent Price and John Barrymore. These are the landmark films that inspired an entire genre of movies and continue to be major influences on motion pictures to this day.

5 out of 5 stars Great Collections   December 24, 2008
I've ordered and received three of the Legacy Collections: Frankenstein, Wolfman & Invisible Man. I've found no problems with their condition or playability. There was a loose disk in one of them but it played with no problems despite minor scuff marks.

I must say that the nay-sayers who gave such poor reviews to these wonderful collections based upon their own individual playback issues caused more than a little concern for me. Perhaps they should try their disks in more than one type of DVD player. Not all DVD players like all disks.

I sincerely recommend these collections for what they are; good quality in both audio and video. Certainly as good or better than when they were shown on TV in the 50's, 60's and 70's.

Perhaps for those un-pleasable few who complain that their quality isn't up to modern standards; take a look at when they were made. There was no such thing as high definition or 5.1 surround sound in the 30's, 40's or 50's. Give it a rest!

5 out of 5 stars Invisible Man - The Legacy   November 3, 2008
Great set of classic films!!!
Brought back memories of watching these as a kid,
and they are STILL great fun to watch.

3 out of 5 stars Two winners out of five   October 4, 2008
This box set includes all of the Universal Invisible Man films with the exception of "Abbott and Costello Meet the Invisible Man." The original "Invisible Man," directed by James Whale, is a 5-star classic which I have reviewed separately. "The Invisible Man Returns" (4 stars) is a surprisingly entertaining sequel. A young Vincent Price acquits himself well in the difficult role, using his voice and body (his face is seen only for a few moments at the end) effectively to portray a desperate man resisting, but ultimately succumbing to, madness. "The Invisible Woman" (2 stars) is a part of the series in theme only. Continuity with the earlier films is ignored in this weak slapstick effort. The handsome but uncharismatic Jon Hall takes the lead role in the final two films. "Invisible Agent" (2 stars), a WWII propaganda effort in which the Invisible Man infiltrates Germany to fight the Nazis, has a few moments of real peril early on, but eventually deflates its power through the inclusion of too much pointless slapstick. "The Invisible Man's Revenge" (2 stars) eschews the clowning, but presents a mechanical plot about a wronged man using the invisibility formula to pay back the wealthy family that cheated him and left him for dead.

The first two films are worthy, but the series goes downhill from there.

5 out of 5 stars The Invisable Man - The Legacy Collection   August 31, 2008
Invisible Man - The Legacy Collection (The Invisible Man/Invisible Man Returns/Invisible Agent/Invisible Woman/Invisible Man's Revenge) This set is excellent, love the old time "Corny" horror movies. They are good for us ole timers to watch.None of the "Blood and Guts" they put in the current movies.Buy "The Legacy Collection(s)",and enjoy

4 out of 5 stars The best of Universal Monster Films on DVD.   August 24, 2008
I actually find Invisable Man and the Invisable Man Returns to be highly entertaining and good movies, Both movies have solid performances by two great actors. A good screenplay to work with, and just enough thrills and cliff hanger endings to keep you hooked on the movie screen and see how it all turns out. The best of the genre.
